Girl Crush: Keri Hilson!

Everybody has that person whose style just instantly connects with them. And that person for me is Keri Hilson (and Solonge, but more Keri than Solonge). Every time she makes an appearance she's always dressed to the nines in sky high heels and the funkiest accessories. It was funny, yesterday I saw parts of the BET hip-hop awards for the first time and when Nas performed Hero I was so disappointed to not see Keri singing the hook...then a few minutes later I had my back towards the tv and I recognized her voice and said "there she is!" before I even turned around. And once again her outfit did not let me down. A strapless leopard print number with slouchy ankle boots...after that I didn't have to see another minute of the awards, lol.

I personally see a bright future for Keri...I mean she has an amazing voice, great style, and Polow and Tim behind her, great style, a hit single, great style...did I mention she has great style? There's no possible way she can fail. Here's some reasons why she's one of my favorite fav stars:

Would You Wear???

Leggings are taking on all types of shapes and forms (well I guess not shapes, because they have to be skin tight to be leggings), and I was intrigued when I saw Express has a pair of sequin leggings going for 98 bucks. I thought about the uncomfortable scratching of sequins(believe me I know...I was a majorette) and wondered if I'd be able to stand it all day. Now the pair displayed are not from express they're by Alice and Olivia and will run over $200...but sequin is sequin right? Well I'm not completely sold on the sequin leggings yet but I know the leather leggings will get old soon so something new has to catch on. Well you know the drill "Would You Wear?"...Sequin Leggings?????

My Secret Love Affair...

In my opinion Miss Sixty should be on more peoples "favorite clothing lines" list! I absolutely fell in love a few months back when I saw their fall 08 collection, then I kept my new lover a secret because it is obviously under-rated. I tried to dig up some reasons to why people aren't flocking to it as much as they should...but I came up empty handed. My only explanation could be that most people into fashion like to follow the pack...so if everyone is head over heels for Wang...then Wang it is. If Marchesa is the new cup of tea...then that's everyone's tea of choice. Well I am here to take a stand and confess that I think Miss Sixty is a very edgy, feminine, and sexy line and that it should be acknowledged! lol I feel like a politician. Just a few pieces I need in my life...

Anna Sui S/S 2009- I could live in this silhouette. I love a defined waist and A-line it's so fun and flirty and short enough to keep my beau's attention ;-)

Versace F/W 2008- Sky high heels are everything right now and these are simple but outrageous all at the same time. Plus...Purple's the new black.

Tarina Tarintino- Love Love Love. This necklace reminds me of the jewelry you use to wear as a child that came in the pack with the slip on heels with the feathers, and the boa, and clip on earrings. Ahhh the memories...this piece can add excitement to any ensemble.

D&G F/W 2008- From the looks of it, I'm really into color this season. This bag is definitely an eye catcher...even though I'm not to sure on the shape of it and how short the handles are. But hey...It's D&G...I'll get over it.

The fashion ignorant will ask "Why are you always carrying around that Chanel shopping bag?" and you politely reply "For the same reason you decided to wear THAT!" Because you already know it will be a mess. Anyway, I would carry this bag til the day I die. That darn Karl holds a special place in my heart.

Bad Girls Wear Leather

I've been desperately longing for a tough girl leather motorcycle jacket, and the only thing stopping me (besides not wanting to depart with my precious coins) is the fear that I'll spend at least $200 on one and then I'll be over it next year. To some "money is no object" fashionistas that may be fine, but for me I'd like my investment items to not only stand the test of time but still look fresh and current for the next few seasons. Last Monday, Lauren Conrad was spotted wandering the streets of L.A. after successfully completing the Lauren Conrad Collection at L.A Fashion Week. She looked HOTT in a purple Elizabeth and James silk dress with a black belt around the waist. Joining the dress was a Chanel handbag and Christian Louboutin Delic Suede Pumps. I can guarantee that was something she wasn't used to but hey, we can't always get what we want. She still looks happy to be there and if no one ever looked awesome with a bob cut, Anna does 24/7. I Want That Old Thing Back!

I don't know how the rest of you feel, but I know I can get lost in the lives of yesteryear. The icons who defined "the cool" and perfected style never cease to amaze me when I research them and dive into the way they lived. They were so glamorous, and fearless, and did whatever they pleased whenever they pleased...and the celebs these days in my opinion are only a fraction of what the stars were back in the day.



But I always sit and wonder who will my grandchildren think of as style icons. I would hope Mary-Kate or Rihanna...or maybe Paris Hilton (that's a stretch, I know). I constantly browse through old photos, and watch old movies simply to observed the way people dressed and acted back then and it always gets me to wondering who will be the new Bianca Jagger, Audrey Hepburn, or Edie Sedgewick. Well I guess only time will tell, and until then I'll continue to enjoy my nostalgic nature.

Why Are Adults Obsessed With Disney Stars???

Everytime I watch E! News I think it is the most ridiculous thing to have so much coverage on High School Musical 3 and it's premiere, Miley Cyrus and her infamous youtube videos, and the Jonas Brothers and their choice to save themselves for marriage. SEE! I as a 21 year old woman should not know that much about kids on the Disney Channel! I haven't watched the Disney channel since.... well actually we didn't even have the Disney channel when I was younger so I really shouldn't know anything about it. "Miley went on a shopping spree" So What!!! "Zack Efron and Vanessa Hutchins are still going strong" Who Cares!?!



I mean, I'm pretty sure I sound like a hater but seriously... should adults be concerned with what's going on in a 16 year old's life?? It's bad enough we encourage the paps to stalk the adult celebs, but I could really care less about if one of the Jonas Brothers eats Fruity Pebbles or Frosted Flakes before he goes on stage. Yes they have tons of money. Yes they're amazing performers. But you should feel ashamed of yourself if you watch their shows or care about their lives and you don't have small children in your home. It's kinda creepy....think about it.




Maybe the Disney Channel should come out with its own version of E! News....pre-teen style.

Did you see Ms. Dakota Fanning at the premiere of A Secret Life of Bee's looking oh so mature??? She is just blossoming into the very opposite of the Hollywood "it girls" and I mean that in a very good way. She has tons of movies under her belt and is still hanging with the big dogs, you can tell she takes her career seriously and because of that she carries herself in a way that makes her much prettier than....well I won't name names but, you know.

Would You Wear...

If there was a list of crazy things from Chanel these pair of heels would skip every other thing and pump right to the top. If you look closely you might see that part of the heel is glass..well you're partly correct. Actually, the heel is a light bulb; yep that's right. A real life light bulb that lights up every time you take a step. I guess the inspiration was those shoes we used to wear in kindergarten that lit up as we walked with no shoestrings because our momma's was so tired of tying our shoes every two minutes.For $2,200 these bad babies are all yours. Just make sure you get some insurance because you can break your ankle, get electrocuted, and step on some glass; all in the name of Chanel.

No Mo Cosmo!

I guess every good thing really does come to an end. Well I wouldn't say CosmoGirl was such a good thing, but hey! It sounded good, lol. The teenage spin off to Cosmopolitan magazine has gotten its butt kicked by "The Man" a.k.a. the economy and because of lagging sales will have to close up shop in December of 2008. Don't worry all you CosmoGirl subscribers; you now will be receiving issues from Seventeen. They may not be the last of magazines that may have to close down because of the lack of sales...I don't care, just not Vogue and Harpers Bazaar. Lol..sorry Nylon!

Next Up: Phatfffat

So, I was on YouTube all day listening to this gal as I was doing homework. My friend asked me have I ever heard of a girl named "Phatfffat" on YouTube and I looked at her like I was crazy. If I could, I would take that face back in a second. Dondria Nicole is a 21-year old native of Sachse, Texas who grew up singing everywhere she went. She eventually started posting videos on YouTube of her singing different songs; all from Dairy by Alicia Keys to Need You Bad by Jazmine Sullivan. It didn't take Dondria long before she took the internet by storm and not soon after, caught the eye of So So Def/Island Urban producer, Jermaine Dupri. Now Dondria a.k.a. Phatfffat(given the nickname because of her love to eat, lol) is a well known songtress who is on her way to stardom with her debut album, Dondria vs. Phatfffat, coming out November 17, 2008. Oaknyc.com features this bag from Surface to Air for a mere $610 (chump change right??), well I got to snooping around the rest of the site and absolutely fell in love! Who Knew???

Apparently Michelle's album came out this week. Did you know? I didn't know. I mean I sorta knew they all were working on solo projects but I didn't know Michelle's album was already out. I mean aren't you suppose to release a single and do a video first? And some promotions? Maybe I just don't watch tv as much as I use to, because this came out of nowhere for me. I just so happened to come across her myspace and that's how I found out. Anyway her songs are ok, techno inspired and uptempo (somebody must of told her that that was hot right now so she went for it), I guess that's why it's "Unexpected".

Oh God! You just don't know how bad I wanna throw up right now. Ok, Wack and Wacker are now coming out with their own version of Rock of Love, I love NY, Flavor of Love, and A Shot at Love, called "A Real Chance at Love". I just refuse to lower my IQ and watch this crap, I just can't believe VH1 still wastes money on shows like this. I can't even express how much I already hate this show, before it even premieres. I mean look at that picture. No seriously look at that picture, smh, ok my stomach hurts.

Charlotte Ronson = Money Machine

See this face...this is the face of a money making machine. Charlotte Ronson is one third of the Ronson clan, and this girl is taking no prisoners in the fashion world. While some designers are struggling to get their lines off the ground and into stores, Ronson's line has only been established for 2 years and she not only has a licensing deal with Urban Outfitters that has been flying off the shelves, she just scored a deal with J to the C to the Penny's. The line is called I "Heart" Ronson and will feature clothes ranging from $15-$65. I guess Penny's saw the success of all the other department store licensing deals and decided to jump on board...can't be mad at that. Let's just pray that the collabs continue to be with designers and not wannabe celebrity designers ;-).

Justin Bobby: Hot Commodity???

Looks like we're gonna see more faces like this next season on The Hills. LC just can't stay away from these rumors. The new rumor in Hollywood is that Lauren hooked up with Audrina's long time fling JUSTIN BOBBY! OMG I was in shock...then I came back down to earth because it seems so bogus. Either Lauren does a really good job covering up her bad girl life, or people just really have it out for this girl. First the sex tape, now this, and from what we see on the show...she doesn't do anything to anyone.

Well here's the story: Audrina went on Ellen Degeneres and said that she heard the rumors and that neither Justin or Lauren has made an effort to clear them up (red flag). She said she called Lauren, not to accuse her, but to ask her about the situation and Lauren apparently hung up in her face! (Gasp). She asked Justin about it and he danced around the question...so all the signs lead up to it happening, but I just can't see Lauren liking Justin....unless he drugged her, which I don't see as impossible. Well, Lauren put on her myspace that the allegations are absolutely preposterous and she would never do such a thing( not her exact words, I just like the word preposterous).

The whole thing is being filmed for the next season...so the drama isn't going anywhere. Now I wonder will Heidi leave Spencer???
