Up Next: The Boy Illinois

I'll be the first to say that I'm very selective about the type of music I listen to... especially when it comes to hip-hop. Not all rappers are actually "rappers", but that's definitely not the case here. The Boy Illinois from (obviously) Chicago is not only someone who I listen to on the regular...but he's also my blood cousin(which is probably one of his best assets...a fly ass cousin, lol). He's been working really hard in the studio and has now released a mixtape, Inhale Part 1 : State Representative which can be downloaded here. I would say my favorite tracks are, the Intro, One Love, and the freestyle to Stronger. There's also a song dedicated to the die hard Rich Young fanatics (which he is) called Rich Young Society...Fab you need to pay this man for that. But please don't get my fam twisted with the millions of other unsigned artists out right now, he doesn't just put out mixtapes, he gives you videos too...a pretty good one I might add. Ok Ok, I gotta quit gasing him up it just doesn't feel normal, lol. No but seriously make sure you download the mixtape and check out the video.

Now I see exactly what Diddy was talking about when he went off on her on the show. This is just real triflin...I really can't think of a more polite way to say it. She looks high, her lips look like they were plumped right before she got there, and is that a lace front wig?? It's just a really bad reflection on the group. I mean we know you can't sing Aubrey but this isn't the way to make up for it.

Get ready to fall madly in love people, because the fabulous Rachel Zoe can now be seen on The Rachel Zoe Project airing on Bravo. I don't care what anyone says about this woman, she is the love child of all things style and she has definitely had influence over all the people you and I look to as "fashionistas" of our day. I was in complete bliss just watching how she worked and listening to her admit to her bad habit of shopping and how she has to work really hard to support her habit. Ummm HELLO! That is exactly what I needed to here, that let's me know I'm not alone and that a lot of people share my struggle (shopping) lol. What's so funny about Zoe, is that you can really tell that fashion is her life because she works from home, but she still gets fully dressed and decked out like she's going somewhere. Guess you have to always look the part of a stylist no matter what.

The show airs Tuesdays at 10pm on Bravo, but here's a little secret...you can watch it whenever you want on Fancast.com. I'm telling you that website is my new addiction. Here's a link to the first episode to get you all caught up before tomorrow night.

Fierce???

Are these fierce...or am I seeing things??? Well of course it all depends on what you pair them with, but I was honestly surprised that these were Alice + Olivia for Payless. They're so edgy for Payless, and they don't look as generic as most Payless shoes do. To be honest if you switched out the tag for lets say....Balenciaga, I bet these would be flying off the shelf and onto the feet of all the young Hollywood darlings. So once again the theory is proven...you can be fab on a budget.

Ever dreamed of being a modern day Pin-up girl??? Well Sheila Frank is here to make all your dreams come true! Sheila Frank is a Moore College of Art and Design graduate who is a former intern of Charlotte Ronson (no wonder her line is so cool). She is now in the fast lane on her way to becoming a house hold name and go to gal for effortless retro cool. Frank specializes in amazing swimsuits with the occasional skirts and dresses mixed into her collections. Started in July of 2007, Sheila's swimsuits are already in 9 boutiques nationwide and she recently just featured her spring 09 collection in New York during Fashion Week last week at the Broadway Comedy Club.

I personally see plenty of celebrity activists supporting her line very very soon because Sheila is a very proud supporter of PETA and The Humane Society who also happened to sponsor her latest fashion show. Well actually Sheila is already becoming a fashion darling and every one's favorite, her line has been featured everywhere from the Wall Street Journal online to The Daily Candy Philadelphia. When I say bad, I meant it in the BEST way possible. Last night Naomi Campbell held Fashion For Relief in London. The show is a charity event that raises money for The White Ribbon Alliance. The show consisted of plenty celebrities walking the runway, but the BEST was when Naomi and Chanel Iman came out together to strut their stuff in Azzedine Alaia.

This weeks AOTW is from fashion house Etro for their F/W 08-09 Collection. The whole ad campaign contains models Edita Vilkeviciute and Martin Cannavo. I chose the picture of Cannavo above because of the creativity of the shoot. It kinda reminds me of Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory. His poise in the picture is to die for as well. Overall, it's a great shot and an even better ad.

IT'S STILL NOT TOO LATE! You can still catch the excellent excellent Lifetime movie about the great CoCo Chanel and how she came to be. I have already watched it twice and they have an encore presentation airing tonight at 8pm. Chanel is truly an inspiration to everyone in love with fashion and her presence is still felt to this day. Watching this movie made me realize what big shoes Karl is filling...and he's doing a great job I might add.

CW: The New Big Shot

If I were CBS, ABC, or NBC I'd be pretty nervous right about now, because the CW has come outta nowhere and bombarded us with a whole slew of addictive series that make us not even want to turn the channel. Last week I I got to see Gossip Girl, 90210, AND ANTM! (I must have too much extra time on my hands). It's like two nights of The Hill-ish drama (without lying to us and telling us it's real life) and then a third night fierceness and runway. Not only are they keeping us from the other cable networks...they're also slowly winging us off of MTV.

Movie Review: Family That Preys

Yesterday me and my cousins took each other out on a date for drinks and a movie (sad I know) and we went to see the highly anticipated The Family That Preys by Tyler Perry. And I must say it was one of the best movies he's ever put out. I must admit it was as suspenseful as I thought it would be, but still entertaining none the less. Sanaa Lathan was the BIGGEST bitch in the world! And I won't give the movie away but she definitely deserved what came to her. This movie gave truth to a very popular phrase..."Never leave the one you love for the one you like because they will leave you for the one they love"...something like that.

Alfre Woodard gave a great performance and reminded me of everybodies favorite aunt with her witty comments and Bible references. I'm glad to see Perry's growth as a film producer, and by the looks of the packed theater I'm sure he will soon be enjoying a very fat check from this film.

And to Sanaa's character: Make that money girl, don't let the money make you.

Did You See???

...This beautiful 70's inspired dress for the S/S 2009 collection of Halston??? OMG! Sometimes when I'm browsing through the collections some pieces just stop me dead in my tracks. This dress is so simple yet has so much movement and fluidity it just makes you want to get on a yacht and sip champagne and travel to some remote exclusive location. Halston just recently relaunched last year and it brought back that effortless sexiness of it's 70's days. Loves it!

Reminds me of my Grannie back in the day.

Tag Team: Anda and Masha

This unassuming duo has been basically running the fashion styling game. This is Masha and Anda and they've styled for everyone from Rihanna to Misha Barton, and worked for mags from i-D to Nylon. Although their work is very versatile they still have a distinct way of styling that combines street eclectic style with high fashion pieces that make you instantly think "Masha and Anda must've styled this shoot".



I've seen them for awhile now on the Masthead on Marie Claire's website giving style tips sponsored by Diesel. And now they're on TheStylist.com which is a collaboration between style.com and Dillard's. The pair compliment each other really well and although they look like sisters Anda was born in NYC and Masha is a native of Yugoslavia. I'm sure they will continue to inspire us in editorials and coach designer looks down the runway.
