Birthday Wish List!!!

Oh...so you thought I was letting you off easy by not demanding what I want for my birthday??? Think again my friend! lol. Ok ok, not a demand but just the things I fantasize about and will soon have. So like to hear it, here it go.

First and foremost....

The boots that have been ever present in my dreams for the past two weeks! Their Gucci. They have Fringe. And they also come in brown. Why wouldn't I have them??? Especially for my birthday. (I hope my family reads this, or maybe a crush that really wants to impress me...the key to my heart lies in these boots, lol).

Secondly...

Lunch with this woman. "Who is this woman Doni?" This woman is Joanna Coles, and she's the editor-in-chief of Marie Claire. She seems like one of the most approachable and down to earth e-i-c's EVER. There would be no strategy to what we would talk about at lunch, or if my hair and outfit is to her liking, I think I could "do lunch" with this lady and actually enjoy myself (and I could probably get a job out of it...hint hint Joanna).

And lastly...I'll keep it short and sweet.
Front Row in the Tents at Bryant Park! Which show you ask?? Well I won't be that picky so any of the following will do... Marc, Calvin, Rodarte, Michael, Miss Sixty, Ralph, or Betsey.

Oh! I almost forgot to tell you the most important thing...My b-day is tomorrow! August 26th. And If I don't get these gifts this go 'round, I'll just get them for myself next time!

Happy B-day to me ;-)

Arm & Leg or Chump Change???

This time I'm letting you off easy and you can probably guess which shoe is expensive and which is not. But you must admit, an untrained eye could be easily fooled. So try to figure out which one is an Arm & Leg and which is Chump Change (answers at the bottom).
First We'll start with the motorcycle boot.

(A) (B)
Ok, they're not exactly the same, but the buckle detail ties it all together. So which one is a high priced designer shoe and which one can be found in just about any mall...A or B?
(A) (B)
Cute lil booties, right? Well one was found in the pages of a glossy magazine, and the other was found while browsing the net...but which is designer and which is....um, not...A or B?
(A) (B)
Now if I were one of this companies, I'd be calling my lawyer right now to see what kind of lawsuit we could cook up for these copy cat shoes. Well If you can see really well than you can read the label and know which one is cheap and which one is not. But! With that being said would you still buy the higher priced shoe and you know there's a look-a-like out there for a fraction of the price??? Hey, it's a fashionista's prerogative...and I ain't knocking nobody either way.

Obama Mania!!

The Obama's are everywhere! And you know Tyra...she just couldn't stay away from the action. She poses as the First Lady to be, Michelle Obama in the September issue of Harper's Bazaar, and I must say Tyra makes a "Fierce" first lady. Ok yeah Tyra does a great job as Michelle, and the Obama's are on almost every mag cover you can think of...but I'm just really scared of Obama being over-exposed and McCain being able to continue to play that "celebrity" card. And OMG...if you walk into Barnes and Nobles there are like a dozen books written about Barack Obama! I walked pass the display thinking..."Idk if I've not been paying close enough attention, but I only remember Barack writing one book". I really can't believe that in this short amount of time that many people have written and published books (not a article, or a blog) and already have them out in stores. I'm sorry to say, but if that many people took the time to write an entire book about me, I would have the biggest head in the world! lol, which explains why I should not run for president. Anyway I don't want to go on and on. But you can see Tyra as Michelle here.

Miu Miu Creeping To The Top

Yeah yeah, Miu Miu has a full line of clothing and accessories, but honestly...their shoes steal the show! I can't help but think that their shoes are the bread and butter of the line. And not only are they a stand out within it's own company but they're really putting the more popular shoe lines to shame with it's level of creativity. Remember the tea cup shoe last season? Well try the sequined pump this fall. I've also ran across a patch work boot featured in Bazaar and Nylon, and the most sophisticated peep toe pump with a hammered gold heel. They have really mastered the idea of wearable art and statement accessories.

Can We Get Our Lives Together???

I know you all have been going through withdraw, and wondering about LL's well-being. But summer is coming to an end and fall is knocking at the door...and to be quite frank...we just had stuff to do, lol. No but seriously with school, and the big moves that everybody has been dealing with we have to sadly admit to neglecting you...accept our apology???? Awww, I knew you loved us!

K, back to all things fab.

A New Meaning For "I Got A Black Eye!"

I LOVE it when things are recreated, whether it be a movie, clothing, song, whatever. It's just cool to see how good something can be imitated and how the other trys to add their own flavor to something. That's why I enjoyed looking at this spread from Vogue UK's September 2008 issue. Photographer, Mario Testino and stylist, Lucinda Chambers recreated this retro, doll-playing innocence in their “Dolly Mixture” story. It reminds you of the old paper dolls that you could change outfits and accesories with their paper outline. Not that I had any...lol.
Well anywho, check out some more pictures from the spread! Don't you just love the make-up?! Pictures provided by Fashionation.

When Did Buying Cologne Become So Serious?

I was watching Gucci's commercial for their new fragrance for men, Gucci by Gucci which is starring Pineapple Express co-star, James Franco and was completely thrown off. I didn't know if I was watching a commercial or a documentary of the Civil War. Maybe because Franco just came off from a comedy movie, I wasn't seeing the serious side of him very well. Check it out.

I guess Gucci figured that if they pretended that a fragrance was a world-altering event it would make people want to smell good? I think not.

Shop While You're Texting!

Ever had the urge to go shopping(dumb question) but didn't feel like driving to the nearest mall to do the shopping??? Well here's some good news for all you couch potatoes, lol. Ralph Lauren is in the process of coming up with the newest(and hottest!) way to shop via your cellular device which is most of our lives. The process is known as mobile commerce a.k.a. m-commerce which allows shoppers to scan a code on a display, ad, or mailer with their phones and shop Polo items they adore at the touch of a button. The company will use Quick Response Technology, which is already popular in Asia and Europe and will make Polo the first luxury retailer in the U.S. to do so. Coolbeans... Can't wait for this to launch!

Check her out! Kerry Washington gets her fierceness on in the Aug/Sept issue of Giant magazine. First thing I thought about when I saw this was the Kate Moss YSL ad campaign...

Guess inspiration has to come from somewhere, lol.

"Hey Dr. Miracle!!!!"

The actual doctor, lol

The famous doctor who has been giving woman "a new hair treatment" all over the world is now offering more than just luscious locks. Coming soon to your local drugstore is the new My Goodbye Acne System. The system consists of three steps, like most acne systems now a days, and that includes a Exfoliating Cleanser...I always like a good scrub, a Regenerating Toner which is suppose to sooth the skin, and lastly a Tingling Repairing Lotion...it doesn't work unless it tingles right??? lol, we'll fall for anything. How about this...you buy it when it's released and tell me if it works or not because I doubt if I'll waste my money on another "miracle" product. I say drink water...but then again I hate water which explains my blemish problems...oh well I'll get some discipline one of these days.

Pick up My Goodbye Acne System for $21 at any major drugstore and pharmacy.

ANTM: She LOOka Like A Man...Well not really..lol

Ciao fashionistaZ!!! OMG I know you guys are starting to miss me but I've been so busy lately and I have to plan my time a bit differently. I love you guys and I must must must must talk to you more often....needless to say I HAVE SOME serious MOST serious tea for you all. Do you remember that Asian lady from MAD TV that always said "OOO he looka like man". Well, I don't know what Ms. Tyra is thinking but after letting a FAT..I'm sorry Plus Sized...girl win last season, she has really trying some things! So i'm browsing the web and what do I see? A man/woman looking at ME!!! YES a man/woman... One the 14 coveted spots on ANTM will be occupied by a transgender (tranny for short) named Isis. The 22 year, former receptionist identifies as "a woman born physically male." Isis told Us Weekly, "My cards were dealt differently".

I always knew Tyra lived for the kids so I seen something like this coming and not only that she is receiving big kudos from the major org GLAAD (Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) for the historic unprecedented move for the exposure of an underrepresented culture on TV. However, I'm sure many are concerned at how this will appear to mainstream society and how will our children look at something like this. I won't go to far into my personal opinion because this isn't the venue for that, however I will say I am anxious to see how this whole thing unfolds come September 3 when the show premiers.

I'll leave on this note. Ms. Jay, Mr. Jay and the rest of the girls better get ready because this girl/boy is coming to ware them OUT!!! Lol...Tune in! I know I will be. This is reality TV at its best....Til next time (which will be soon I promise..lol...I bet her walk is sick!!)
Arrivederci

American Apparel Shakes Things Up

The clothing line known for being scantly clad and made in America is doing the unthinkable...exporting to China! Ok, maybe it is thinkable but it's highly unusual you must admit. Look at almost every piece of clothing in your closet and what does the tag say??? MADE IN CHINA, China is the labor capital for fashion but I guess AA wants to give it a taste of it's own medicine. It's pretty good medicine I might add. What really makes this a touchy subject is that China is really just getting use to its freedom of expression, being that they have strict traditions and communism, and they are still a very conservative country...and we all know that American Apparel is the poster child for anti-conservative. But the heads over at AA say that they can sense that China is ready for what they're serving up. Or maybe they just want to get their hands into the pockets of those 1.3 billion people...but who knows, lol.

Will the Chinese put up with America's raciness??? Only time will tell

Chanel Still Has A Leg Up

Leave it to Karl to still have a leg up on the competition, even with hosiery! Now I'm sure Karl doesn't come up with every single idea that hits the runway...some poor design assistant is probably pissed right now that Karl's taking all the credit, lol, oh well get over it. Anyway I fell in love with the double-sided panty hose (do people still say panty hose) that went down the runway for fall 2008. I picked up both the lace pair and the two-toned last time I went to Neimans. Ok, I'm lying but it would be nice.

I'm glad Chanel put a twist on things because I was starting to get bored with leggings and leg wear altogether, so this just freshen things up a bit. Maybe Express will do a cheaper version that I can afford, lol.

C'mon girls show a lil leg.

The New Fashionista's

Some of the new Hollywood fashionista's have really been surprising me. In particular Eva Mendes and Gwyneth Paltrow...who knew they would be so heavily involved in the fashion industry??? Lately they've been everywhere. Eva is on the September cover of Marie Claire, Gwyneth is in the new ad campaign for Estee Lauder's new perfume, Eva had that amazing spread in Italian Vogue, Gwyneth killed the cover of V magazine...I mean these chicks are just going toe to toe. If I had to pick one over the other it would definitely be Eva, she has that kind of old Hollywood sexpot thing which is probably why the industry swoons over her...but Gwyneth, I just don't see what all the fuss is about. She looks very average to me, like I could go to the mall and see a million Gwyneth Paltrows. Yeah yeah, she's tall and leggy...but she's boring and between me and you...slightly old looking. Regardless, her and Eva continue to get showered with ad campaigns and fashion spreads...even more than movie roles it seems like. Makes you start to think that maybe the young Hollywood girls don't rule the world after all.

Let's see what they cook up next..clothing line maybe???

Did You See???

With the success of box office hit, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, it was bound to be a part two! Two years later Blake Lively, Alexis Bledel, America Ferrera and Amber Tamblyn have reunited for The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2. All four ladies attended the world premiere at the Ziegfeld Theater in New York City. They all looked wonderful in designer pieces.

From left to right: Blake Lively in Gucci, Alexis Bledel in Mischen, America Ferrera in Brian Reyes and Amber Tamblyn in Fendi.

Bledel sold me with those strappy pumps and Blake made orange my new favorite color, lol. But all for of these ladies looked gorgeous. Bravo!

Ashley Paige: Funniest Designer Ever!

If you haven't been tuning in to watch Ashley Paige Bikini or Bust, you are truly missing out on one of the funniest reality shows to ever hit fashion. First of all, I love how she keeps it real and lets everyone know that she's totally broke. She's hustling swimsuits to pay rent, letting go of employees, and shooting her own look book. She's letting us see how starving artists really do it. Her mom is hilarious as well, she has the most down home country accent you could ever have running around Hollywood taking care of her "granddogs". You just gotta see it for yourself... all the ups and downs and stress of running a super high end swimsuit line, very entertaining. I swear episodes of What Not To Wear followed by Bikini or Bust just brightens up my day.

Tune in Satudays @ 11a

Walk in Nina Poon's Shoes

I applaud Kenneth Cole for using his ad campaigns to not only to showcase his new collections but to bring awareness to different societal issues. In the ad above is Nina Poon, a transgender woman pictured with her straight boyfriend Robert Jason. Nina tells her story about always feeling like a woman on the inside and taking those steps into womanhood in 2004. She works as a talented make-up artist and illustrator and has been the muse for clothing lines United Bamboo and Proenza Schouler. She looks fierce in the all the KC ads.

Fall Isn't Just For Fashion

As we all know by now, fall is big for the fashion industry...it's kinda like going back to school in the fall, it just brings on a lot of excitement. But I've noticed that it's not only big for fashion but it's when most companies launch their new fragrances. Flipping through all the mags all you see is introducing this and introducing that, idk if it's just a coincedence...but if it is, maybe the industry should think of doing some type of fragrance week...that'll be hot right! lol...sike, can you imagine how jacked up peoples sense of smell would be after sniffing hundreds of perfumes. Any way here's what to look for next time you get mobbed by the sales person at Macy's.

Ralph Lauren- Notorious

Dark and spicy, very sexy scent.

Estee Lauder- Sensuous

Woody Amber scent, with notes of mandarin orange and honey.

Calvin Klein- Secret Obsession

Seductive scent with notes of Egyptian Jasmine.

Now go and smell lovely

Nina Garcia Jumps Ship

Judge from Project Runway and former fashion director for Elle Magazine has left her Elle family and is now the Fashion Director for Marie Claire...both part of my fav mags club. It has been rumored that Nina was served her walking papers over at Elle and now the question to answer is will this effect her spot on PR since Elle is clearly one of the shows "partners in style" according projectrunway.com. Even if it does, it's not like she's broke and homeless so I can pretty much guarantee she will be A-OK, I'm sure Marie Claire is taking good care of her. She's already settled in and is pictured with Joanna Coles (editor in chief at MC) on the letter from the editor's page of the September issue. Can't wait to see what good things she's gonna bring over to Maire Claire because you know now she has to show out and show Elle what they're missing... ha!

Just means better content for us!
